I am an Operations Research Analyst for the Army. I received my master's degree in May 2010 from Purdue University in Mathematics. I received my bachelor's degree in May 2007 from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) in Mathematics. During my time at UMBC I tutored in the MATLAB, for a year. After that I was a teaching assistant for Calculus I and Calculus II for two semesters each. While I was at Purdue I have taught Precalculus. So, I have plenty of teaching experience....

I like that I can talk to Shayla about careers in math, and different disciplines closely tied with math.
Shayla helped me decide between two math departments at different Universities. One program read "Calculus I." The other program read "Calculus and Analytic Geometry I." Shayla advised me that the "Calculus I" course was less rigorous than the "Calculus and Analytic Geometry I " course. If you want a recognized calculus course for STEM purposes, take Analytic Geometry with Calculus.

This is the second tutor I've used from Wyzant, both were excellent. Shayla's tutoring session with my daughter was excellent. Both me and my daughter was satisfied with the content provided during the session.

Shayla was able to quickly connect to my high school son and assess his tutoring needs. She was professional, smart and knowledgeable about the subject matter (Pre-Cal). My son always looked forward to his sessions because Shayla not only had a good sense of humor; she was able to explain the concepts in a way that made it easier for my son to understand. After Shayla's tutoring sessions, my son felt he was ready for his fall Calculus class. If my son determined that he needed additional help with Calculus, I would not hesitate in requesting her assistance.

Thank you, Shayla. My daughter found the session helpful. She is not yet decided if she will need weekly sessions. It depends on the material she is covering and how well she grasps it. So far ,so good. Thanks, again.
